MY STORY

Hi, I'm Heather

I was born and raised in Minnesota, and my path into law enforcement started long before I ever wore a badge. Growing up, I watched someone I loved experience domestic violence. That played a big part in why I chose a career where I could help protect people and understand the behavior behind violence.

I spent 19 years in law enforcement, much of that time investigating crimes against persons, including sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, crimes against children, and homicide. Those years gave me an understanding of safety that goes far beyond what can be learned from a textbook.

After retiring from law enforcement, I started Hartman Tactics to continue doing what has always mattered to me: helping women and families feel more confident, more aware, and better prepared. Today I teach firearms, situational awareness, and personal safety in a way that is practical, approachable, and based on the experience I gained throughout my career.
